From Fibre to Cloth
The Textile Manufacturers of Australia is a public record of certified textile production within Australia.
It lists mills and producers whose fibre origin and manufacturing pathway meet the declared Textile & Fibre standard of the Commons Exchange.
At present, fully certified Australian fibre-to-cloth textile production remains limited. This register exists to make that capacity visible as it is rebuilt.
Each entry records:
• Fibre origin
• Location of processing
• Location of weaving or knitting
• Location of finishing
• Type of cloth produced
• Certification status
Status is recorded as:
Certified
In Process
The register is factual. It does not rank producers. It does not interpret quality. It records place of manufacture and declared fibre origin.
Australia has grown fibre for generations. Mills have operated across regional centres and industrial towns. Some remain. Others stand quiet. Where fibre and manufacture are again joined, the record will show it.
The purpose is continuity of production within Australia — from field to finished cloth — made visible through documentation and place.
Entries are updated as certification is completed or progresses.
The record will expand only as capacity is substantiated.
