For mills, weavers, guilds, and studios
producing cloth in Australia.
The Southern Cross Mark is awarded to cloth physically produced in Australia.
This application is for producers only — mills, independent weavers, loom studios, and guilds whose cloth is grown, spun, woven, or milled on Australian soil.
Before you apply, confirm the following:
Your cloth is physically produced in Australia.
You are the maker or producer — not a retailer or distributor.
Your materials, methods, and place of production can be documented.
The application covers:
Your name and studio or mill
Location of production
Fibre source and materials used
Production method — hand woven, mill woven, studio produced
Images of the cloth and the production process
A brief statement of provenance — where it was made, by whom, and how
What happens next:
Your application is reviewed by CWA against the Southern Cross Mark standards. If your cloth meets the standard, the mark is issued and your production is recorded in the public registry.
The mark is applied to the cloth. It travels with the cloth. It tells the buyer exactly one thing: this was made here.
