Register your practice. List your work. Sell through a verified Australian marketplace.
Practitioner Membership is for Australian makers and cultural producers whose work is ready to be seen, sold, and protected. If you weave, spin, dye, stitch, throw, carve, bead, or produce any form of handmade cultural work — this membership gives you the infrastructure to trade professionally, with your provenance verified and your identity protected.
The Southern Cross Registry is Australia’s only national registry of verified cultural practitioners. When you register, you receive a Unique Practitioner Identifier — a permanent record number that links your identity, your practice, your location, and your work to the Registry. Your UPI is the foundation of everything else: your Marketplace listing, your provenance claims, your Digital Product Passport readiness, and your eligibility for the Southern Cross Mark.
Your first year is free. After that, $39 per month — cancel anytime.
Registry and identity
— Unique Practitioner Identifier (UPI) — your permanent verified identity in the Southern Cross Registry
— Southern Cross Registry listing — publicly searchable by buyers, stockists, designers, and institutional partners
— Registered and Protected Provenance seal — a verified badge you can display on your products, packaging, and website
— EU Digital Product Passport readiness from 2028 — your verified provenance data feeds directly into the international compliance system that will be mandatory for all textiles entering the EU market
Your marketplace
— Your own branded shop page in the Southern Cross Marketplace with your own URL — not a generic listing, your own storefront
— Unlimited product listings — no cap on what you can offer
— You keep 85% of every sale — paid directly to your bank account on a regular cycle
— Access to the Brief Board — where designers, labels, and buyers post paid commissions that verified practitioners can apply for
— Access to the CWA distribution network — a wholesale channel that places your work in art galleries, museum gift shops, tourist centres, airport retail, and cultural institutions across Australia
Why this is different from Etsy or Shopify
Etsy and Shopify are platforms. They give you a place to sell. They do not verify who you are, where your work comes from, or what it is made of. They cannot give you a provenance record, a registry listing, or a Digital Product Passport. They cannot connect you to wholesale buyers who require verified Australian-made documentation. They cannot place your work in institutional retail.
CWA does all of those things. And it costs less than Shopify’s basic plan.
Many Practitioner Members continue to sell through Etsy or their own website alongside their CWA Marketplace listing. The CWA Marketplace opens doors that those platforms cannot — particularly to institutional buyers, brand commissioners, and international markets where verified provenance is a commercial requirement.
What happens after you register
1. You complete your registration below and receive your login details by email.
2. You complete your Provenance Registration — a detailed record of your practice, your location, your discipline, and your materials. This activates your UPI and your Registry listing.
3. Your shop page in the Southern Cross Marketplace is activated. You add your products, set your prices, and start selling.
4. When your work meets CWA’s production standards, you can apply for the Southern Cross Mark — the certification mark that tells buyers, stockists, and brands that your work is verified, traceable, and genuinely Australian-made.
To register as a Practitioner Member, complete the form below. Your first year is free — no credit card required until month thirteen.
